  2. How does Ellagic Acid work?
  3. How Much Ellagic Acid should, I take daily?
  4. What is the best Source for Ellagic Acid?

What is Ellagic acid?
A phenolic compound derived from ellagitannins commonly found in red raspberries. Crancitrin’s Ellagic Acid is extracted from the seed of the Meeker raspberry, using a Patented cold enzyme process. Ellagic acid has antiviral and antibacterial properties. Recent studies have indicated that ellagic acid may have anticarcinogenic effects against liver, esophageal, prostate, and colorectal cancer cell lines. Other studies have reported that ellagic acid is a potent antioxidant.

How does Ellagic Acid work?
Healthy cells have a life cycle of approximately 120 days. After 120 days they die and are replaced with new cells, this process is called apoptosis. Cancer cells however do not die but multiply through cell division. 1 cell becomes 2, 2 become 4, 4 become 8 etc., Lab tests have shown that Ellagic Acid causes cancer cells to go through the normal apoptosis process without damaging healthy cells. Chemotherapy, and radiation which are the common non-invasive treatments for cancer, will destroy both the cancer cells and the healthy cells simultaneously and indiscriminately. These treatments in addition to destroying healthy cells, often times will negatively effect the bodies immune system.

How Much Ellagic Acid should, I take daily?
Crancitrin Ellagic acid is available in 500 mg capsules. There are 60 each of the 500 mg capsules in each Crancitrin bottle. We recommend that the average woman take 2 capsules or 1000 mg’s per day. This recommended portion contains 41.17 mcg of phenolic compound with ellagic acid occurring at the rate of 450 ppm. This recommended daily portion is equal to the ellagic acid that would be obtained in one cup of fresh raspberries. The monthly cost of eating a cup of fresh berries per day would be in excess of $150.00. Crancitrin’s cost for an equal amount of Ellagic Acid is $17.95 per month. This is a savings of approximately 83% and the product is always available. We certainly do not recommend that you stop buying and eating fresh raspberries, we recommend that you eat them as an enjoyable fruit, that has some ellagic acid in them, but not as a source of ellagic acid.

What is the best Source for Ellagic Acid?
The Meeker Red Raspberry is acknowledged to be the best source of Ellagic acid, followed by the Chilliwac and Willamette raspberries. All three berries are grown in the Pacific Northwest and are used primarily for commercial purposes. Crancitrin uses only The Meeker Raspberry in it’s formulation of Ellagic Acid.
